Famous People With Nose Jewelry

Some celebrities defy categorization – either because they’re multi-talented or simply because they’re famous for being famous. The stars below have one very fashion-forward choice in common, however: a nose ring (or two).

Madonna – "Entertainer" is the best word to decribe Madonna. An astoundingly successful singer, she’s also dabbled in acting, has written a series of children’s books, and is a prominent activist. There isn’t a social boundary or convention Madonna hasn’t broken, including getting a nose piercing in the 1990s. During her infamously bleeped appearance on Late Night With David Letterman in 1994, Letterman tried to redirect Madonna’s raunchy subjects and vocabulary by asking her if it hurt when she got her nose stud. The Queen of Pop can get away with anything, but a nose ring is particularly appropriate for a chameleon like her because she can wear dramatic, attention-getting nose jewelry when she wants to and then scale it back a bit when she’s with her children.

Nicole Richie - A previous "wild child," in recent years Nicole Richie has settled down as a mother, philanthropist, and jewelry designer. But in her wilder days she reportedly got her nipples pierced (which made headlines recently when they set off security alarms at an airport), as well as a dainty nose ring. Her nostril piercing is a fabulous choice for the petite Richie, as it fits her bohemian style perfectly.

Cree Summer - In front of the camera, Cree Summer is probably best known for her role as Lisa Bonet’s friend, Freddie Brooks, on ’80 sitcom A Different World. This multi-talented artist is also a singer who’s toured with Lenny Kravitz, though her biggest body of work is as a voice-over actress who’s lent her distinctively sultry voice to hundreds of animated characters. She’s typically seen with a captive bead on her right nostril, a very pretty touch that highlights her delicate, slightly exotic features.

Elizabeth Hurley - Today, Elizabeth Hurley is an actress, model, producer, and mom, but growing up, she was a punk kid with pink hair and a nose ring. Perhaps bowing to the pressure to exhibit a refined image in public, Hurley is never photographed with a nose ring any more, which is a shame because displaying a smallish stud on the red carpet would only add to her intriguing persona.

Dennis Rodman - Dennis Rodman was once most famous for his spectacular basketball skills alongside the Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan, but he’s currently more infamous for his off-the-court antics, tattoos, short-lived marriage to Carmen Electra, and multiple piercings. Among them are at least two nostril piercings, through which he’s been photographed wearing barbells, captive bead rings, and other funky nose rings. Would we expect anything less than never-demure, attention-grabbing nose jewelry?
